On our way home from our CALIFORNIA trip!! It was super fun!
We drove out of the good ol' QC Wednesday morning at like 5am. Drove, drove, drove and arrived in San Diego around 11:30ish. We went straightaway to the beach, and only stayed like 4 hours, but guess what? I FRIED! hahaha shocker ;) My chest, my thighs, and my scalp. I didn't even swim in the ocean because it was later in the afternoon, and cold. I knew I'd never dry off completely. Later that night, we went to Costco and got ice cream bars..yummy!
Thursday we met Micah and Danny in Laguna Beach and hung out there for a little while. I really wanted to swim in the ocean this time, but since I was already burnt, I figured it wasn't such a great idea. So I didn't. I just sat and relaxed. I did talk around and put my feet in for a little while, which only resulted in burning my scalp more. But whatevs. Then we went home, and I crashed. Took a nap for like an hour and a half. We had a beach BBQ with Jen and Charles and kids, which was pretty cool. We tried to make "sea corn" which is just corn-on-the-cob boiled in sea water, so it's all salty! It didn't turn out as expected because the fire wasn't working in our favor, but it still turned out tasty! We then walked along the pier for a little while, just for something to do.
Friday, we went to the Mormon Battalion. It was pretty neat! All the sister missionaries there are super nice. One of them went up and talked to me for a while. Asked what I thought of a mission, (which I think would be SO FUN if I'm not married and it's what I am supposed to do!), and told me about hers. If I DO go on a mission, I think I'd like one of the tour ones, like the Mormon Battalion or Nauvoo or something <3 We also did baptisms at the San Diego temple. Oh my goodness it was amazing! So beautiful! It's funny how every temple is so different inside, but still so much the same. It's great, I love it!! After we were done, back to Jen's and settled, we went back to the beach. And guess what happened? You'll never guess, so I'll just tell you. Porter got stung by a STINGRAY! hahaha, I gotta admit, it was pretty funny, but pretty sad too. It was hurting him, and bleeding all over. The lifeguard told him to go home and soak it in hot water to break up the poison. Only Porter ;) While Porter was stuck at home with his foot in a bowl, the parents, us girls, and Jen's girls went SHOPPING! We went to Ross, and I got 2 maxi dresses (that I've been wanting) and after a couple Visa gift cards I had from work, it cost me at total of $6 :) YEEAAHH BUDDY!
We now are currently driving home. On the way here, we saw Pine Valley--which is the little town that Sarah Landon and the Paranormal Hour is filmed. It's pretty much the best cheesiest movie EVER! I didn't even think the town was real, but we saw it on the way here, and the little diner they went to also! So on the way home, we stopped there! AHH!! We saw the diner, and wanted to go eat the "world's best pie" (according to the movie) but it was still pretty early. THEN we all had to go to the bathroom, and wanted to go in there. But it was for customers only :( I had a secret desire in my heart to go in and see one of the characters eating pie and I'd go up and say "hi" and make their day teling them how awesome they are! Maybe next year.. ;)
Hopefully this trip helped with my "get a tan" goal this year. I am pretty red, and am just hoping it turns into tan! I put some sun-in in my hair this trip too, to lighten it a little. But I think I mighta put too much, because it's pretty bleachy blonde... oops.. :P I'll give it a couple days to die down, and if not, I might have to go get that fixed... :S Oh well ;)
I'm excited to get home, out of humidity, sleep in my own bed, and be back in AZ. Yes, it's hot. Yes, it's nice to leave for a couple days. But it's Arizona and I LOVE IT! Nothing beats it :)
