Today was the dedication for the Phoenix, AZ temple. It was a lovely experience. It was the first time I've seen a dedication since going through the temple myself, and it was amazing to see the parallels with the temple ceremony there.
During, I couldn't help but think of how blessed we are to have another temple here in AZ. In Chile, the members would have to take a 3-4 day trip out of going to the temple, and the ward would go all together once or twice a year..that was usually the only times most of the members went. Either all the way to Santiago, to Cochabamba Bolivia, or Lima Peru, it was a minimum 10 hour bus ride to even get to the temple. And how blessed are we? Having the new Gilbert Temple so close, now Phoenix, Tucson coming up here soon as well... within a 10 hour radius from home, there are so many temples close by! Are we taking advantage?
We have this special privilege to have another house of the Lord so close to our own homes. Another place of refuge. So close. How great is the Lord...
I've noticed these last couple weeks, that when we really put time in to go to the temple, the Lord helps us find time for everything else. We are so privileged to have temples so close, can't we take a couple hours out of our week to go?
That was mentioned quite a few times as well today.. placing our priority on the temple, and the blessings will come. The temple is such a special, sacred place to receive answers and inspiration. It is beautiful inside and out. It brings peace, joy, and strength. It makes one happy. It's a time to step out of the world, and experience a stress-free, worry-free, moment. It's the best :)
Speaking of temples...
I also had the opportunity to go yesterday to help set up the Christmas lights at the Mesa temple. It was great to be able to sacrifice some time for such a great memory and cause. Visiting the temple lights has always been one of my favorite holiday traditions. Giving back :)
Such a great weekend it has been... :)
