Stones In The River

Like stones in the river we are tossed and turned,
When the current moves so strong.
Stones in living water over time,
Are shaped until the edges are gone.
Polished and smooth, that's what we will be
If we put ourselves in God's hands

One of the requirements for Missionary Week this week is to listen to only Mormon Tabernacle Choir, EFY songs, Hymns, or anything else the church puts out. I REALLY like EFY music, so that was my music selection for the week. For some reason, we have a lot of really old EFY songs, so a bunch of them are on my iPod. One I really like is called "Stones In The River" from 1999. It's just about how our trials build who we are and polish and smooth us as we let God help us go through them. I forgot how much I really liked this song and I sat and listened to it in the car one morning. It was my turn for the seminary insight that day, so I did it on this song, along with D&C 24:8.
Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many; but endure them,
for, lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days
This is one of my favorite scriptures. I know that if we put ourselves in God's hands, and ALLOW him to help us in our trials, he will. And they will build us and prepare us to live with God again.
