MISSIONARY WEEK!!

I HOPE THEY CALL ME ON A MISSION!!
Welllll.... for missionary week they did! I was "called" to New York for my mission ;) Missionary Week started on Sunday--yes Super Bowl Sunday--and ended yesterday. We needed a total of 460 points to "pass."
We got 5 points for waking up by 6:30 each morning (which was easy because I get up at 5), saying prayers each morning and night, reading scriptures 30 minutes, writing in our journal, going to bed by 10:30, not drinking caffine, staying arms length away from the opposite gender, carrying a pass-along card and looking to share it, bearing our testimony, and such. Then 25 for writing a missionary, doing an act of service, cooking a meal, and more like that. We also got 25 points for dressing up like a missionary on Friday, which I did. It actually was really fun!
All week I was really hoping I would get a super cool missionary experience, but not much happened. Until Friday. In the morning, I was sitting with Briana, Porter, Porter, Nicholas, Ben, and Devin. We were all wearing our missionary clothes, and Courtney walked up and said, "Ok, I'm guessing this is for missionary week" and we all said "YES!" Porter D started talking to her and showed her the grade chart and stuff. It was kinda cool.
Then, Friday in Spanish, this girl Dakota started going off about how dumb she thought seminary was. Apparently it's dumb because it has nothing to do with school and we get out of school to go to church, but also affects GPA? She thought an LDS kid (Johnny) had a 5.0 GPA because of seminary, and it made him beat her friend Courtney (same Courtney from before). So in her mind, it didn't have anything to do with school, but gave Johnny a 5.0. I tried telling her it had nothing to do with school and no GPA at all (which made her think it was dumber because it had nothing at all to do with anything) and luckily another LDS kid, Clay, backed me up. You can't even GET a 5.0 because of classes you have to take that there's no honors for. And he just reiterated that seminary wouldn't even give you a 5.0 at all, or any GPA at all. She also was mad that HER church doesn't have a "seminary" so why should ours? I told her that our's organized it, so if her's did she could take it too. She seemed like she didn't really know what to say, so she said "Well I still think it's dumb" and walked away.
Wow. Some people. ;) haha. I still hope that something either I or Clay said affected her and made her realize seminary isn't all that "dumb." I really like seminary, it's my favorite part of the day. It'll be the thing I miss the most when I graduate.
Hopefully even though missionary week is over, I still can have my "super cool experience" happen. I want to share the gospel more often, because I feel like I don't very often.
