Saturday morning, when we woke up, I could NOT move. Not that it hurt to move, I literally couldn't! After I sat up, I had to use my arms to manually move my legs. I don't know why I was so sore since the day before I thought it was so easy! But anyway, FINALLY I got up, and every time I started walking, I looked and felt like an old lady holding my back. I honestly could NOT help it. After starting for a bit, I finally would get better, but once I sat down again, it all started over. In the afternoon we went to Havasupai Falls for a while, then walked to New Navajo/Emerald, which both are new and super cool. Except I couldn't go down them because there was no way I'd make it back up. Let alone the next 9 miles. So I sat on a rock in the shade :) We got to the village and ate dinner and left for the rest of the adventure around 4:30. We were cruising pretty good, especially Cal! He was speedy. Anyway, I started lagging behind the rest o' the teenagers, then Porter did too, so I caught up with him and made it all the way to the switchbacks with him. And, I didn't stop hardly at ALL because, once again, I knew if I did I wouldn't get going again. We kept making goals to help pace ourselves. We said to make it to the switchbacks by 7-and got there at 6:30. Then, we decided to be done at the switchbacks by 7:30. Which seemed reasonable, until it was like 7:15 and I realized I wasn't close and that we miscalculated... :) (Porter passed me up by this time). I changed that goal to 7:45. He probably made it up by 7:35ish...super close to the goal! Around 7:38ish I started thinking I wasn't going to make my 7:45 goal because I didn't think I was very close. So I once again changed it to 8:00. Next thing I knew, it was 7:44 and 50 seconds...I was at the top! :D It felt SO good to be done, even with a bunch of the little kids passing me on the way ;)
I thought I'd wake up today WAY worse than yesterday, but I'm actually feeling okay! Hallelujah! I could actually walk and get out of bed! Just after sitting for a while I'm sore, but I'll be fine. As long as before Nauvoo I can walk like a normal person.
So, through the whole thing, I only got a little sunburned, on my knees and a bit (not hurting) on my feet. My "dirt tan" wasn't really dirt, for the most part! :D I really did tan my legs a bit!
This trip was AMAZING!! :D And, I have to admit, I want to go back already ;) NEXT YEAR?!
